Shared World?

Was on my way to lunch, when I had this idea, so I had to turn around and come back to document it: Why can’t Ethereal and the as-yet-unnamed second game share the same world? It’s been established that Ethereal is to be post-apocalyptic, and that is one of the aspects that aims the game toward a dark, grim feel. The lighter, more action-packed feel I want for the other game would be a good fit for the world before whatever cataclysm hits that leads to the Ethereal setting. Games set in the second game (really need a name for that!) could shape Ethereal in the form of myths and stories, not to mention in more direct ways.

This is not definite yet, but will be looked into further….

  1. So, like Earthdawn and Shadowrun (Please, oh please, don’t get more in depth than that, I don’t much about the systems)?

    • Do Earthdawn and Shadowrun have shared heritage? I know they were both originally FASA products, but I don’t know if their settings linked up. It’s been so long since I’ve looked at either.

      • I believe that Earthdawn is hinted at being in the far, far, far past of Shadowrun (because magic comes to Earth in cycles, Shadowrun being the near-future one and Earthdawn being the one prior to it). Whether it’s outright stated within the settings is unknown to me, but I think so.
